> Our Family Ministry Team is here to help. Look for someone with a Sweetwater Family Ministry t-shirt or lanyard, and they’ll guide you.

> The Children’s Building is located behind the Worship Center (follow the Kingdom Kids signs). Our check-in area is staffed, and the building is secure.

> After check-in, K–5th graders often join us in the front rows at the beginning of the service. Toddlers remain in the Children’s Building for the full service.

> Pick up a family devotional at the check-in desk to keep the conversation going with your child throughout the week.

> We have kids activity bags available today for those who prefer to keep their kids with them during the service. Stop by the Welcome Desk to pick one up.

“Journey to the Cross: Mark and the Risen Christ” (Mark 16:1-8). Mark’s journey with the Risen Christ is a very personal one. Here we see his love for his friends and reverence for Jesus as the risen Messiah. Mark doesn’t sugarcoat the story by depicting his friends as heroes. But he is absolutely amazed at the awesomeness of the resurrection.

GRADUATION SUNDAY:  We’re excited to honor our graduating seniors on Sunday, May 17th. Everyone is invited to stick around after the service and celebrate with them. Clearly, the most common phrase in this list is “love one another,” but really all of the verses are about loving one another—because love is an action, and because all of God’s commands can be summarized as loving God and loving your neighbor (Matthew 22:37-40; Romans 13:9-10; Galatians 5:14). Living out these verses in community is how we can love—and be loved—by one another.

  • Involve your congregation, friends, and even your local businesses in the effort.
  • Is transportation a problem? Purchase your community gifts when you arrive.

CELL PHONES/IPODS/LAPTOPS/ETC. 

For security reasons, it’s best to leave these items at home. However, we do understand that they are great for capturing moments, sharing life, and communicating back home. If you decide to bring any of these items, don’t let them distract from your experience. How can you be tethered to your devices and expect God to work in unexpected ways? If you decide to bring them, be sure to put them away during the programs and on your project sites.

I AM – GOOD SHEPHERD

​1 “Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. WHAT IS FAMILY MINISTRY

In some ways, Family Ministry is simply the new church word for Children’s Ministry. Functionally, much of what we do is no different than what we’ve always done. We want to disciple children in the way of Jesus.
Philosophically, however, the shift to Family Ministry is born out of our desire to partner with families and set them up for success as they continue the conversations that we start as a church. Today’s families come in all shapes and sizes. But we acknowledge something that all modern American families share in common–we’re all busy; maybe too busy! Children today are involved in more extra curricular activities than ever before. Rather than compete with your busy schedule and make church activities one more category on your list of weekly activities, our desire is to partner with parents to help them continue discipleship at home as they go from school, to the ballfield, to dance, to meetings, to dinner, to bedtime, and whatever else they have scheduled, before doing it all again the next day. 

How do we do that? We start the conversation on Sunday mornings and equip you with resources to continue the conversation at home. Each week we send home a devotion sheet with a few conversation starters. Mealtimes, car time, and bed time are some of the best times for these conversations. When you’re not sure where to focus with your children, consult the guide that we provide.

 
There’s a lot more to it, but that’s the basic idea. If you have any questions, send us an email, and we’ll set up a time to chat.

A Sweetwater Family Christmas

Join us and bring a friend for “A Sweetwater Family Christmas,” December 22, 10:30am. We’re making our regularly scheduled worship service a festive gathering for the whole family, with live animals, sweet treats and hot cocoa, live music, and “Buddy time.”
The birth of our Savior is “good news of great joy for all people,” and we’re exited to celebrate it with you!
