We believe in one and only one true God. There is a trinity of persons in the God-head: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; yet there are not three Gods, but one God.
We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, the only rule of faith and practice. They are without error in all they teach and affirm.
We believe in the fall of Adam and the imputation of his sin to his posterity. Furthermore, we believe in the corruption of human nature and the impotency of man to recover himself by his own ability.
We believe that salvation is by God's grace alone, through faith alone, and in Christ alone. Salvation is a work of God, by His Holy Spirit, in which he calls, regenerates, converts, sanctifies, and protects believers so that they are eternally secure in that salvation.
We believe that sinners are justified in the sight of God only by the righteousness of Christ imputed to them.
We believe that good works are the fruit of faith and follow after justification. They are evidence that we are in a gracious state.
We believe that Jesus Christ is coming to this earth again in God's own timing and that no man knows the hour or the date. We should simply be prepared for when He does return. Too much speculation on this subject can lead to error in doctrine.
We believe that there will be a resurrection of the dead and a day of judgment. Those in Christ will live forever in His presence in glory, and the lost will suffer eternal punishment in hell.

Ordinances
In accordance with its statement of faith, First Baptist Sweetwater observes two ordinances, Baptism and the Lord's Supper.
Church Covenant
Having been led by the Holy Spirit of God and brought by Divine Grace to embrace the Lord Jesus Christ and to give up ourselves wholly to Him by receiving Him as Savior and confessing Him as Lord in baptism and testimony, we do now solemnly and joyfully covenant with God to promise, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to forsake the ways of sin and to walk in Christian love and in the paths of righteousness.
We promise to exercise mutual care as a member of the Body of Christ toward other members; to promote growth of the whole body in Christian knowledge, holiness and comfort; to strive with others for both the peace and purity of Christ's church; to sustain its disciplines and the doctrine of the Word of God; to contribute as faithful stewards such time, talent and money in the measure that God prospers us that the responsibility of the local church and the worldwide ministry of spreading the Gospel be faithfully discharged. All this to the end that we may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.
We also pledge to encourage devotion within our families, to teach the Bible to our children, to seek the salvation of our families and acquaintances, to walk circumspectly in the world to the end that we may lead others to the Lord Jesus Christ. We will endeavor to be Christian examples in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity of life. We are to remember that God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, of love and of sound mind, and that we are the light of the world and the salt of the earth.
We further pledge to give and receive admonition with meekness and affection; to remember each other in prayer and to aid each other in case of sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the Scriptures to seek it without delay; and to encourage one another in the blessed hope of our Lord's return. We, moreover, agree when we move from this congregation, we will endeavor to involve ourselves with some local church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of the Word of God.
