To Be Obedient to God

Obedience is the only path that leads to the glory of God. Obedience doesn’t replace faith, but faith’s obedience gives access to all the blessings God has for us. Prayer is a privilege because of who has called us to pray:

“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” (Jeremiah 3:3)

“Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving;” (Colossians 4:2)

To Glorify God

The glory of the Father is to be the link between our asking and His doing:

“And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” (John 14:13)

To Intercede for Others

God’s Word tells us that the Lord Jesus lives today and intercedes for us:

“Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.” (Romans 8:34)

The highest conformity to Christ is that we take part in His work of intercession:

“First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men. (I Timothy 2:1)
